Meghan Markle Reunites with "SNL" Alum for New Comedy Film
6 Nov
Summary
- Meghan Markle to star in new comedy film
- Ensemble cast includes "SNL" alum Melissa Villaseñor
- Markle's production company expands Netflix deal

In a surprising move, Meghan Markle is set to make her acting comeback in a new comedy film. The project, which is currently in development, will see Markle star alongside a talented ensemble cast that includes "Saturday Night Live" alum Melissa Villaseñor, as well as Natasia Demetriou, Anna Konkle, Patti Harrison, Jack Shalloo, and Dustin Demri-Burns.
The story reportedly revolves around a "regular" couple that meets a celebrity couple while on a trip to Santa Barbara. When the two couples become friends, lines are crossed and things get awkward. The film is being directed by Jason Orley, with a screenplay written by Isaac Aptaker, based on a story they collaborated on. Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are producing the project.
This marks Markle's first acting role in over seven years, as she stepped away from the industry to focus on her royal duties after marrying Prince Harry in 2018. However, the couple's production company, Archewell Productions, has been actively expanding its partnership with Netflix, reupping its first-look deal with the streaming giant just last August. Through this deal, Markle has executive produced documentary series like "Polo" and "Live to Lead," as well as her own lifestyle series "With Love, Meghan."
With Markle's return to acting and Archewell's growing Netflix presence, it seems the former "Suits" star is ready to embark on a new chapter in her career, blending her creative passions with her philanthropic endeavors.
