Meghan & Harry: Favorability Hits Low
29 Oct
Summary
- Prince Harry's positive opinion dropped four points since July.
- Meghan's net favorability rating is -48, the lowest recorded.
- William and Kate remain most popular royals at 72%-74%.
According to a recent poll, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's popularity in Britain has diminished since their return in August. Harry's favorable opinion among Britons has fallen by four points since July, now standing at 29%. Meghan's public image has also suffered, with only 20% holding a positive view, and her net favorability rating has reached a record low of -48.
This decline contrasts with the continued high approval ratings of other royals. Prince William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, remain the most popular, with 72%-74% of Britons holding positive views. King Charles's approval rating also saw a dip to 58%, his lowest since taking the throne in 2022.
The poll was conducted from October 22-23, coinciding with news of an investigation into Meghan's estranged father. Despite controversies, the couple received a warm reception during a public appearance in Nottingham on October 15.
Meanwhile, Prince Andrew continues to be the most unpopular royal, with only 4% viewing him positively and 89% negatively. The survey also indicated that 64% of Britons believe the UK should retain its monarchy, though younger generations show less support.
