A new short film titled "Wild Bird" will bring the intense relationship between Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow to the screen. Russell Tovey stars as the acclaimed fashion designer, with Olivia Colman portraying the influential fashion editor who discovered him.
Directed by Andrew Haigh, the film is written by Tovey and offers an interpretive look at Blow and McQueen's bond, exploring their mentorship and the eventual rift when McQueen took a role at Givenchy. Principal photography is slated to begin in the U.K. in June.
This project marks a collaboration between WePresent, WeTransfer's arts platform, and Tovey, following their previous work together. The film aims to capture the tragic and compelling nature of their friendship, with Sandy Powell attached as costume designer.
