Matthew McConaughey's son, Wyatt, recently embodied the iconic David Wooderson character from the 1993 film Dazed and Confused. In a scene from the Apple TV+ series Brothers, Wyatt recreated Wooderson's signature look, complete with shaggy hair and a long necklace, for an elaborate prom proposal.
Central to the recreation was the original black Chevrolet Chevelle from the movie, which McConaughey affectionately calls "Melba Toast." As "Low Rider" played, Wyatt stepped out of the car to deliver modified versions of Wooderson's famous lines. McConaughey watched with fellow star Woody Harrelson, sharing that the car's appearance was his idea.
The series Brothers features fictionalized versions of McConaughey and Harrelson navigating a premise where they discover they might share a parent. Harrelson described the show as similar to "Curb Your Enthusiasm" but with a unique premise. The episode "The Dance," featuring this Dazed and Confused homage, is set to air on October 21, 2026.
New episodes of Brothers, which explores a meta narrative of real-life friends McConaughey and Harrelson, are broadcast Wednesdays on Apple TV.
