Mayasabha Flops: Jaaved Jaaferi Film Fails Box Office
7 Feb
Summary
- Mayasabha, starring Jaaved Jaaferi, earned only 79 lakh.
- The film's budget was under one crore, needing a crore to break even.
- It marks a significant financial setback for director Rahi Anil Barve.

The psychological thriller Mayasabha, featuring Jaaved Jaaferi in the lead role, has concluded its theatrical run with a disappointing collection of 79 lakh at the Indian box office. The film, operating on a minimal marketing budget and limited show counts, was expected to garner low opening numbers.
Despite word-of-mouth potential, Mayasabha sealed its fate within its opening week, earning only 78 lakh. By its second Friday, collections plummeted to a mere 1 lakh, bringing the total to 79 lakh (equivalent to 93 lakh). Projections indicate a lifetime collection of less than 1 crore net.
This release marks director Rahi Anil Barve's return after the acclaimed film Tumbbad. While Tumbbad gained significant popularity and earnings over time, Mayasabha failed to attract a similar audience. In comparison to Tumbbad's 13.48 crore net, Mayasabha has earned 94% less, highlighting a substantial commercial setback for Barve.
The film, produced at a budget under one crore, needed to earn 1 crore net to be considered safe. Its current performance, even with such a low budget, has turned out to be a significant disappointment. Mayasabha also stars Veena Jamkar, Deepak Damle, and Mohammad Samad and holds favorable ratings of 8 out of 10 and 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
