Based on Mona Kasten's "Save Me" trilogy, the latest season delved into the character's grief following his mother's death, a departure from lighter tones.
Galitzine described the second season as "bleaker" but also "more honest and grown up," admitting that the emotional intensity of playing James dragged him down. He shared that both he and co-star Harriet Herbig-Matten experienced extensive crying during filming, reaching a point where not crying felt unusual.
Looking ahead, the actor playfully declared that he would not endure such an emotional season again, insisting that season three must be "much more funny" and "only comedy." In contrast, Herbig-Matten found the experience less emotionally taxing, crediting her coach for helping her separate her own feelings from her character's.
