Maura Higgins, a 34-year-old Love Island personality, has made her acting debut in the new Irish comedy film, 'The Spin.' Directed by Michael Head, the movie chronicles a two-day road trip undertaken by two friends to rescue their struggling record shop. Higgins plays Rose, the girlfriend of one of the protagonists, Dermot. Her role, however, is a brief cameo, amounting to less than two minutes of screen time in the film's 1 hour and 32 minute duration.
Despite the minimal screen time, Higgins' performance reportedly captured the attention of significant figures within the film industry. Sources indicated that "important people from the film" were impressed by her acting and were discussing her future career prospects in Hollywood. Higgins herself expressed that her acting debut felt fitting in an Irish film, given the nation's reputation for storytelling. She described the experience as incredible, though initially nerve-wracking.
'The Spin' centers on Dermot and Elvis, who run a record shop in Omagh, Northern Ireland. Faced with mounting debts and a determined landlord, they embark on a journey to Cork to acquire rare records at a favorable price, hoping to save their business. The film, which was released in UK and Irish cinemas on February 27, also features Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt and actor Brencock O'Connor.
