At the Midsummer Scream convention in Long Beach, California, actor Matthew Lillard experienced an awkward encounter during a Q&A session. While attending a reunion event for the 1996 film Scream, a fan approached Lillard with a microphone to voice a grievance.
The fan explained that a few years prior, Lillard had reacted dismissively to his theory about a connection between Scream and the movie Mad Love. The fan stated that this interaction made him feel lost as a fan. Lillard responded with a sarcastic remark, and the audience reacted with boos.
Despite attempts by co-star Jamie Kennedy to elicit a more detailed response from Lillard, the actor chose to move on to the next question. The event celebrated the 30th anniversary of the original Scream, gathering several stars from the franchise.
