11 Mar
Summary
- Matthew Fox prioritized family after 'Lost' success.
- He returned to acting for new projects like 'The Madison'.
- Fox also explored music and writing during his hiatus.

Matthew Fox recently shared insights into his decision to take a break from acting following the immense success of the television series 'Lost.' He explained that the demanding schedule of the show, which aired for six seasons until 2010, meant he missed significant portions of his children's childhood.
In 2014, Fox made the conscious choice to step back from the public eye to devote more time to his family. This hiatus allowed him to reconnect with his loved ones and also engage in personal creative pursuits, including music and writing. Despite completing a personal acting bucket list with projects like 'Bone Tomahawk,' a desire to return to storytelling eventually emerged.
His return to Hollywood was prompted by an offer from producer Taylor Sheridan to join 'The Madison,' a new series connected to 'Yellowstone.' Fox also previously ended a temporary retirement in 2021 for the thriller series 'Last Light,' which also provided an opportunity for him to executive produce.
