The posthumous album of musician Matt Long, featuring friends and blues legends, has achieved a number one position on the UK Jazz and Blues Album Chart. Matt Long, who passed away in October 2024, was diagnosed with bowel cancer 18 months prior to his death.
His parents, Fiona and Paul Long, created the album titled 'With a Little Help from My Friends' to support the Onslow Ward at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The album, released in March, includes two tracks with Matt's vocals and a cover of The Beatles' song.
Beyond topping the jazz and blues charts, the album also reached number five in the UK Americana charts and number 18 in the overall UK Album chart. Funds raised have enabled a significant donation of a handheld ultrasound machine to the hospital, intended to improve patient care.
