Matt Damon's Cult Comedy Quest on SNL
6 May
Summary
- Matt Damon returned to SNL to help write a sketch.
- Damon's iconic 'Good Will Hunting' was unknown to cast.
- The promo ends with a surprising janitorial payoff.

In a new promo for Saturday Night Live, guest host Matt Damon revisited his cinematic past to aid cast members in writing a comedy sketch. Damon utilized a 'Good Will Hunting'-style chalkboard filled with complex equations, a method he recognized from the nearly three-decade-old film.
However, both cast members, Jeremy Culhane and Sarah Sherman, expressed unfamiliarity with the movie. Sherman humorously claimed to have grown up in a cult, explaining her lack of movie knowledge, while Culhane echoed this sentiment. Damon's attempt to recreate his iconic scene did not yield the expected results, leading to an unexpected janitorial payoff.
Damon hosted the show for the third time on May 9, with Noah Kahan as the musical guest. Damon's upcoming film, 'The Odyssey', is slated for release on July 17. Noah Kahan's fourth album, 'The Great Divide', was released on April 24.
Will Ferrell is also set to return as host for the season 51 finale on May 16, with Paul McCartney as the musical guest.
