Jonathan Rosado's latest film, 'Matador Bolero,' arrives in New York theaters next month, drawing heavily from 1970s exploitation cinema and reminiscent of films like 'Beyond the Black Rainbow.' This marks the acting debut of musician and producer Yves Tumor, adding a unique allure to the project.
The narrative unfolds at the 'Matador' nightclub in New York, where a high-profile murder becomes the focal point. The investigation draws the attention of a dedicated detective, a tenacious TV reporter, and a mysterious entity existing beyond conventional time and space.
Their stories intertwine with the activities of a new-age cult led by an advanced supercomputer named Bolero. The film's score is provided by Hoboken's experimental group, The Suede Hello, in which Rosado also participates.
'Matador Bolero' is Rosado's third feature, following 'Viridian Hue' (2023) and 'Brutalist Couture' (2024). Like its predecessor, 'Brutalist Couture,' this film will be distributed by Lucky American Films and Uncensored New York.
