The live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe, directed by Travis Knight, recently premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. The film brings the iconic Mattel franchise to life, centering on Prince Adam's story. After crash-landing on Earth as a child and losing his Sword of Power, Adam is raised as Adam Glenn. His destiny changes upon being reunited with the sword, leading him back to Eternia to save his homeland from the villainous Skeletor.
The star-studded cast features Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man and Jared Leto as Skeletor. Idris Elba plays Man-at-Arms, and Camila Mendes stars as Teela. The Masters of the Universe franchise originated as a toy line from Mattel in 1982, followed by the classic Filmation animated series the next year. A previous live-action film in 1987 did not achieve box office success, making this 2024 acquisition by Amazon and subsequent reboot highly anticipated.
