Band Detained, Passport Seized for Palestine Support

Massive Attack has voiced surprise and disappointment following their treatment by Singaporean authorities. During a recent performance, band members displayed a Palestinian flag and chanted "free Palestine." Subsequently, they were detained by police, questioned separately, and some experienced hotel room searches and temporary passport confiscation.

Singapore has imposed an indefinite ban on Massive Attack from re-entering the country. Police confirmed the two band members involved would not be allowed back and are barred from performing there. They received stern warnings regarding alleged violations of laws restricting foreign flag displays and political expressions at public events. The band found it surreal that displaying a flag, recognized by many nations, would violate local laws. They remain proud of their spontaneous show of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
