In a move to avoid competition from beloved holiday movies, Marvel has announced that its upcoming "Wonder Man" series will now premiere in January 2026 instead of the originally planned December release.
According to Marvel TV and animation head Brad Winderbaum, the decision was made to ensure the new series doesn't get "swallowed up" by the surge in viewership for classic films like "Home Alone," "Die Hard," and "Elf" during the holiday season. Winderbaum explained that Marvel wanted to give "Wonder Man" the best chance to stand out and attract audiences.
The series, which is part of Marvel Studios' multiyear deal with Hulu's Onyx Collective, will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the lead character Simon Williams. This will be the actor's third portrayal of a comic book character, following his roles in "Watchmen" and the "Aquaman" movies. Ben Kingsley is also set to reprise his role as Trevor Slattery from previous Marvel projects.
