Marvel is bringing back a treasure trove of '90s video games with the upcoming Marvel Maximum Collection. This bundle, a collaboration between Marvel and Konami, promises a comprehensive journey through the company's gaming past, focusing on iconic titles from the 1990s.
The collection will feature six beloved games: X-Men: The Arcade Game, Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage, Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, Silver Surfer, Captain America & the Avengers, and Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge. Most of these titles originally released on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, with Silver Surfer also appearing on NES and X-Men: The Arcade Game on arcade cabinets.
Players will have the unique ability to switch between different versions of the games, experiencing the distinct visual styles of the SNES and Genesis editions, for example. Arcade's Revenge will even include its Game Gear and Game Boy handheld versions. Modern enhancements are also a key feature, with additions like a music player, save states, rewind functionality, and digital art scans of box art, manuals, and vintage advertisements.
The Marvel Maximum Collection is slated for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S later this year. A physical edition will also be available through Limited Run.
