Her death was attributed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's autopsy report released recently. This finding came after Martin Short contacted a friend to check on Katherine when he hadn't heard from her for over 24 hours.
Responding to the concern, a friend visited Katherine's Los Angeles home and discovered a locked bedroom door with a note. Law enforcement was called, and they made a forced entry into the room, where Katherine was found deceased. A Glock 19 9mm pistol was located beneath her.
The autopsy also detailed Katherine's medical history, noting a previous suicide attempt in 2017 involving pills and a documented struggle with depression and other mental illnesses. She was the eldest child of Martin Short and Nancy Dolman.
