Kayce Dutton's Dark Past Haunts New Marshal Role

The latest episode of "Marshals," titled "Zone of Death," sees Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) taking his first official steps as a U.S. Marshal. Despite a heartfelt moment with his son Tate, Kayce faces immediate challenges as some colleagues, like Marshal Harry Gifford, question his appointment due to his family's connection to unsolved state cases, including the deaths of Governor John Dutton and DA Jamie Dutton.

The team responds to a fugitive in Belgrade, leading to the discovery of a link between white nationalists and a Latin gang. However, the focus quickly shifts to a planned fentanyl deal in a remote area known as the "Zone of Death." This location is revealed to be the same place the Duttons historically used to dispose of bodies, known as the "Train Station."

During the operation to intercept the deal, a firefight erupts. Kayce executes a terrorist involved in a bomb plot, ultimately disposing of the body in the "Zone of Death" himself, a chilling echo of his family's methods. Back at headquarters, Kayce's actions are questioned, with suggestions that he may be covering for his deceased brother Jamie. The episode concludes with Kayce admitting the landmines left by the "Yellowstone" legacy are affecting him, as he prepares for a ceremony honoring his late mother, Monica.
