Lionsgate has acquired the rights to "Ride or Die," a new romantic buddy action-comedy project slated to star Marlon Wayans and Keke Palmer. The film centers on the unlikely partnership of robbery detective Martin Banks, portrayed by Wayans, and narcotics detective Tami Moore, played by Palmer.
Their professional collaboration ignites as they are tasked with tracking down a billion-dollar cache of deadly opioids. This stolen pharmaceutical product poses a significant threat, with the potential to flood the streets of Chicago. The dynamic between the opposites is expected to provide both sparks and action.
Wayans, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Alvarez, described the film as a fresh take on the genre, famously calling it "When Harry Met Sally with guns." The project is being produced by Wayans and Alvarez, alongside Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher. Keke Palmer and her mother, Sharon Palmer, are also in discussions to executive produce.
