- Mark Hamill criticized the post, citing inaccuracies and tone.
- The meme references Star Wars quotes and imagery for political messaging.
On May 4, 2026, the White House posted a Star Wars-themed image of Donald Trump as the Mandalorian, holding an American flag and Grogu. This post, celebrating Star Wars Day, drew sharp criticism from fans and actor Mark Hamill, who famously portrayed Luke Skywalker. Hamill pointed out the inaccuracies in the image, suggesting a true fan would know to use a green lightsaber instead of red.
Hamill's reaction extended beyond just the image, as he commented online that Trump's social media presence is "full of Sith." He advocated using humor as a coping mechanism for such posts, describing it as "kryptonite to malignant narcissists." This incident follows previous Star Wars-themed imagery shared by the White House, including a 2025 post depicting a muscular Trump with a red lightsaber.
