Marion Band's Cosmic Concert Under Stars

The Marion Concert Band is set to perform a unique, thematic concert on July 24 at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand in Marion. This free, public event, beginning at 7 p.m., is part of the band's summer concert series. The program, "A Trip to the Movies That's Out of This World!," is divided into two halves, celebrating familiar music from films and television, followed by compositions inspired by outer space.

The first half of the concert will feature well-known scores from cinema and television, including selections like "The Sounds of Hollywood" and "Bond...James Bond." The second half will transport the audience to outer space with themes from iconic productions such as "Star Wars Saga" and "Star Trek Through the Years."

Euphonium soloist Toby Monte, who has been a member of the Marion Concert Band since 2011, will be featured during the performance. Monte has an extensive performance history with various prestigious ensembles. The concert will be conducted by Tobias Monte and attendees can find updates, including rain cancellation information, on the band's Facebook page, "Marion Town Band."
