A house in Palm Springs, California, long associated with Marilyn Monroe, has been sold for $2.81 million. The property's new owner, local designer Violet Moran, plans to restore the nearly 3,000-square-foot residence while preserving its original design elements. Built in 1961, the four-bedroom house is located in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood.
The sale price was $490,000 below the initial asking price of $3.3 million when it was listed in February. Records show the property last sold in 2020 for $1.58 million. However, its direct connection to Monroe has been questioned, with some reports indicating she never owned it and may have only been an occasional visitor.
Moran intends to maintain the architectural integrity of the house, which features original elements like colored tile bathrooms and a semicircular bar, alongside updated areas. The home, designed by Charles Du Bois, also boasts a living area with a fireplace, vaulted ceilings, sliding glass doors, and outdoor amenities including a pool and hot tub with mountain views.
