In a significant departure from her work with the indie-pop band The Marías, María Zardoya is set to release a highly personal solo album titled 'Melt' under her project 'Not for Radio'. The album, scheduled for release on October 10th, 2025, was recorded earlier this year in January at Flying Cloud Recordings in upstate New York.
Zardoya describes the creative process behind 'Melt' as an opportunity to "make music for the love of experimenting, far from home, fully in the moment, open to whatever stream of consciousness unfolded around us." Working with collaborators Sam Evian and Luca Buccellati, the artist immersed herself in nature and allowed the music to unfold organically.
The 10-track album promises to be an intimate exploration of love, loss, and self-discovery. Zardoya has been teasing the 'Not for Radio' project for several months, hinting at her desire to "explore on my own what it meant to love and to lose" and questioning whether "love [is] worth the pain" of someone's absence.
