Manoj Bajpayee Transforms into Gandhi for New Film

Manoj Bajpayee is set to embody Mahatma Gandhi in an upcoming film directed by Sudhir Mishra. The project, tentatively titled Gandhi and My Mother, will explore a significant 21-day period in Gandhi's life around India's Independence.

Filming has officially commenced in Lucknow, with the team meticulously recreating the 1940s era using vintage cars and authentic costumes. Bajpayee has undergone a notable physical transformation, losing considerable weight to prepare for the iconic role.

Inspired by personal conversations with his late mother, who met Gandhi as a child, director Sudhir Mishra aims to capture a defining chapter of Gandhi's life. Anubhav Sinha is producing the film, marking a collaboration after their work on Afwaah.

The Lucknow shooting schedule is expected to continue until October. While the final title is yet to be confirmed, the narrative centers on a crucial, lesser-explored period of Gandhi's impactful life.
