Bajpayee to embody Gandhi in new film

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has confirmed that actor Manoj Bajpayee will portray Mahatma Gandhi in his forthcoming biographical film. This announcement follows weeks of speculation and marks the first official detail regarding the project's direction. Bajpayee, a recipient of a National Award, is celebrated for his nuanced performances.

Production is anticipated to begin in Kolkata around September, contingent upon final scheduling. While plot specifics remain undisclosed, sources suggest the film will focus on significant periods of Gandhi's life, moving away from a comprehensive cradle-to-grave portrayal.

Mishra's choice of Bajpayee, known for his complex character portrayals, indicates a potential focus on psychological depth. The film's narrative is expected to offer a reflective, possibly provocative, perspective on Gandhi's life and legacy.
