In a profound tribute to the late singing legends Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, their brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar has initiated a significant project. He plans to construct what is anticipated to become Asia's largest hospital, dedicated to preserving their memory and impactful legacy.
The LataAsha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences will be a sprawling 1000-bed surgical super speciality hospital. Its construction will cover an extensive 22.5 lakh square feet area on a 40-acre campus located in Nandoshi, Sinhagad Road.
The foundation stone ceremony, which also serves as a condolence meeting, was scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026. This event was to be attended by prominent figures including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat.
Both Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92, left an indelible mark on Indian music. Lata Mangeshkar was honored with the Bharat Ratna in 2001, while Asha Bhosle received the Padma Vibhushan. Their contributions to music continue to inspire.
