Mandira Bedi Champions Smiles for Children in Ahmedabad

Himalaya Wellness Company's Muskaan initiative, in its 12th year, has arrived in Ahmedabad to observe World Smile Day. In collaboration with Smile Train India, the campaign, themed 'Ek Nayi Muskaan,' focuses on raising awareness about cleft conditions and enhancing access to timely, comprehensive care for children in Gujarat. Actor Mandira Bedi has joined the initiative, highlighting the importance of confidence and self-belief for children with cleft conditions, stressing that the right support helps them overcome their condition and pursue their aspirations. This year's theme draws inspiration from Ahmedabad's kite-flying culture, symbolizing how the right support allows children to 'rise' and achieve their potential.

The initiative extends beyond surgical procedures to include essential support for feeding, nutrition, speech, and overall development. A mobile van will be deployed to travel through rural and underserved communities in 22 districts of Gujarat, spreading awareness and connecting eligible children with free cleft surgery and comprehensive care. Rajesh Krishnamurthy of Himalaya Wellness emphasized the initiative's commitment since 2015 to reach more families, especially in underserved areas, ensuring children receive timely care. Ragini Hariharan noted that 'Ek Nayi Muskaan' signifies hope and increased confidence for children, encouraging open conversations about cleft care.
