The massively successful YouTube horror franchise, "The Mandela Catalogue," is officially set for a feature film adaptation. Following a fierce bidding war involving eleven studios, the film rights have been secured by United Artists, Amblin Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios. Alex Kister, the original creator of "The Mandela Catalogue," will direct the movie, co-writing the screenplay with Tyler Clifton. This analog horror series, launched in 2021, has amassed over 100 million views across its episodes.
Set in the fictional Mandela County, Wisconsin, the story features terrifying shape-shifting creatures known as Alternates. These entities, led by a false Archangel Gabriel, aim to psychologically torment humanity into suicide and manipulate media. Steven Spielberg and Holly Bario are producing for Amblin Entertainment, alongside Aaron B. Koontz for Paper Street Pictures and Scott Stuber for United Artists. Kister and Clifton are also producing.
