Mamta Kulkarni Quits Spiritual Role for Independent Path

Mamta Kulkarni, once a prominent Bollywood star, has announced her resignation as Maha Mandleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada. This decision, effective January 27, 2026, stems from her evolving spiritual beliefs, which she states no longer necessitate formal positions or recognition. Kulkarni explicitly addressed rumors of discord, affirming her amicable departure and expressing gratitude to Dr. Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi for the respect shown to her.

Her spiritual journey is now guided by the philosophy of her guru, Shree Chaitnaya Gangagiri Nath, who himself eschewed formal designations. Kulkarni intends to pursue her spiritual practices in solitude, sharing her knowledge without attachment to any organization or ideology. Previously, she took sanyas in 2025 during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, receiving the spiritual name Yamai Mamta Nand Giri, before facing controversy and reported expulsion.
