Mammootty's 'Bramayugam' to Screen at LA's Academy Museum in 2026

In a major achievement, Mammootty's critically acclaimed psychological horror film 'Bramayugam' has been officially selected for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures' curated film series in Los Angeles. The film, set in the 13th century, will be screened on February 12, 2026, as part of the museum's "Where the Forest Meets the Sea" series.

Notably, 'Bramayugam' is the only Indian film featured in this prestigious category. The special series will run from January 10 to February 12, 2026, showcasing a diverse range of cinematic works. Mammootty expressed his excitement and gratitude over this international recognition, stating that it is "another moment of pride for the entire team behind #Bramayugam."

The film, which delves into caste oppression and superstition through a dark folktale lens, has already earned significant international acclaim. The University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, England, has even included the film's sound design in its curriculum for cinematic sound studies.

At the Kerala State Film Awards, 'Bramayugam' won four major honors, including Best Actor for Mammootty, Best Character Actor for Siddharth Bharathan, Best Background Score for Christo Xavier, and Best Makeup for Ronex Xavier. The film stands out as one of the few modern black-and-white Malayalam productions.
