Mammootty's 4th National Award for 'Bramayugam'

Superstar Mammootty has achieved a significant milestone, securing his fourth National Film Award for Best Actor. The prestigious award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, recognizing his powerful portrayal of Kodumon Potti in the recently released film 'Bramayugam'.

Mammootty shared the Best Actor honor with Kartik Aaryan. This latest accolade comes over three decades after Mammootty first received a National Award. The film 'Bramayugam', directed by Rahul Sadasivan and noted for its distinctive black-and-white visual style, also earned an award for Shehnad Jalal for Best Cinematography, highlighting the film's atmospheric quality.

Speaking on his win, Mammootty expressed that a National Award serves as significant encouragement for performers. He acknowledged the collective effort behind his success, thanking directors, technicians, co-actors, producers, and his appreciative audience for their support throughout his extensive career.

'Bramayugam', a period folk horror set in 17th-century Kerala, was entirely filmed in monochrome, an experience Mammootty described as new and memorable for him. The film's unique artistic choice contributed significantly to its overall impact and critical reception.
