Mammootty Resumes Filming 'Patriot' After 8-Month Break for Medical Treatment

In a highly anticipated move, legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty, 74, is set to return to the film sets in the first week of October 2025 to resume work on the big-budget movie 'Patriot'. The actor has been away from public life for the past eight months due to health concerns, but is now ready to get back to work.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, 'Patriot' boasts one of the most star-studded lineups in recent Malayalam cinema, with Mammootty sharing screen space with Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohanlal and acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil. The makers had originally aimed for a release next month, but the schedule had to be rearranged due to Mammootty's medical treatment in Chennai.

In recent months, Mammootty has been staying in Chennai, away from his Kochi residence. Sources close to the actor suggest he is likely to make Chennai his permanent base, partly due to ongoing medical care at a leading private hospital and also because his son, actor Dulquer Salmaan, has a residence in the city. This marks a significant personal decision for the legendary actor, who had previously moved from Chennai to Kochi to be closer to his native village.
