Malayalam superstar Mammootty shared a humorous anecdote about his induction into the Lokah superhero franchise. He revealed that he was "cheated" into voicing the character Moothon, a protector and leader of superheroes, in the film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Mammootty explained that he was asked to provide a voice-over without fully realizing he would be a character in the film, even noting that the hand shown was not his.
Director Dominic Arun had previously indicated that convincing Mammootty to lend his voice was a significant undertaking. When asked about future installments, Mammootty humorously stated that while he might be convinced to return as Moothon, they would also have to convince him regarding his fees. The Lokah franchise aims to build a universe where characters from folklore protect the world.
The franchise's first part blended Kerala folklore, introducing characters like Kalliyankaatu Neeli, Odiyan, Chaathan, and Moothon. Mammootty is also preparing for the release of 'Patriot', a spy action drama directed by Mahesh Narayanan, scheduled for May 1, 2026. He expressed optimism about the future of Malayalam cinema, hoping for international recognition as language barriers diminish.
