The widow of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has revealed the deeply personal reason her late husband decided to start a family with her, approximately one year after his tragic death.
Tenisha Warner shared in an interview that Malcolm-Jamal, who died at age 54 from accidental drowning in Costa Rica on July 20, 2025, initially expressed resistance to having children. However, he later approached her, stating he knew she would be the woman he'd want raising his child, even if their relationship didn't last.
Their 9-year-old daughter is their only child. Tenisha has recently filed a lawsuit against Malcolm-Jamal's mother, who is the trustee of the family trust. She is seeking to settle her husband's complex estate and honor his wishes for their daughter's provision.
Tenisha stated her husband was close to updating his will, which was drafted in 1996. She is now acting as the sole provider for their daughter and felt legally compelled to protect their rights.
