Warner's Widow Sues Mother-in-Law Over Trust
22 Jul
Summary
- Widow sues actor's mother for over $1.2 million from his trust.
- Lawsuit filed on the first anniversary of the actor's death.
- Trust was established before the actor met his wife and daughter.

On the first anniversary of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner's death, his widow, Tenisha Warner, filed a lawsuit against his mother, Pamela Warner. The suit, lodged in DeKalb County Superior Court in Decatur, Ga., seeks over $1.2 million from the trust overseen by Pamela Warner.
Tenisha Warner states she had no choice but to take legal action to protect her rights and those of their nine-year-old daughter, MacKenzie. She asserts that Malcolm-Jamal Warner intended to provide for them, but the 1996 trust primarily allocates funds to other family members, including his mother, father, and a half-sister.
The petition alleges that the actor failed to meet financial commitments to his wife and daughter before his passing on July 20, 2025, due to accidental drowning. Tenisha Warner is requesting the court recognize her and MacKenzie as omitted heirs and spouses.
Pamela Warner marked the anniversary with a tribute on Instagram, reflecting on a year of grief and growth, and urging loved ones to clear up any negativity. Representatives for Pamela Warner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
