Veteran Malayalam film producer and distributor N G John, widely recognized as Geo Kuttappan, died in Kochi at the age of 90. His passing occurred on Wednesday at the Ernakulam Medical Centre following a heart attack, just as his family was preparing to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Kuttappan, son of early film distributor N X George, maintained a strong legacy in the Malayalam film industry. He was actively involved with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce since its early days and served as the president of the Kerala Film Chamber for six years. His production career included numerous collaborations with director I V Sasi, bringing to screen films like 'Iniyum Puzhayozhukum' and 'Ezham Kadalinnakkare'.
His production credits also extend to other acclaimed movies such as J Sasikumar's 'Minimol', M Krishnan Nair's 'Rajaneegandhi', and Bhadran's 'Aattuvanchi Ulanjappol'. Notably, he produced 'Unaroo', an early Malayalam film by director Mani Ratnam, featuring Sukumaran and Mohanlal. The funeral was scheduled to take place on Thursday at Mary Queen's Church Cemetery in Kochi. The FEFKA Directors' Union has extended condolences to the veteran's family.
