The largest international music awards in Japan, MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 (MAJ 2026), has announced its full entry lineup, with the ceremony set for June 13. Kento Nakajima and Mei Hata are serving as ambassadors for this year's event.
MAJ 2026 boasts an expanded program with 78 categories, covering a broad spectrum of music genres and recognizing approximately 2,000 entries. Key award sections include Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year, featuring prominent artists and works from the 2025 music scene.
Voting by music industry professionals and the public began on March 19. Listeners can cast their votes in three specific categories: Best of Listeners' Choice: Japanese Song, Best of Listeners' Choice: International Song, and Best Global Hit From Japan. Nominees will be announced on April 30.
In addition to the awards ceremony, MAJ 2026 will host a series of events from June 5 to June 13. These include live performances, seminars, and showcases featuring industry professionals and artists across various genres, such as anime music, women in music, and traditional Japanese enka.
