Maisie Williams on Arya Stark Return: "I Don't Know"

Maisie Williams, renowned for her role as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, has expressed uncertainty regarding a potential return to the character for a project reportedly in development at HBO. Williams, who began playing Arya at 12, commented that the character would need significant evolution for her to consider reprising the role. She revealed that the first half of her twenties were challenging, marked by the end of the popular fantasy drama, personal discoveries, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and industry strikes.

HBO has continued to expand the Game of Thrones universe with spinoffs like House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. However, not all sequel ideas have materialized. Williams' former co-star Kit Harington discussed in May that efforts to create a Jon Snow sequel series were ultimately unsuccessful. Harington explained that the project couldn't find the right direction, emphasizing the need to avoid doing injustice to the character and ensuring the story had valid reasons for continuation.
