Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has disclosed a surprising casting detail about her directorial debut, the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na. Khan revealed that she had originally considered actress Sameera Reddy for the role of Chandni, the glamorous college professor.
Khan shared this during a vlog recorded at Reddy's residence, stating she first saw Reddy in a music video and felt she would be ideal for the character. Reddy expressed surprise at not being cast in the film.
Farah Khan explained that by the time casting for Main Hoon Na was finalized, Reddy had already committed to her debut film, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. This prior engagement meant Reddy could not accept the role.
The part was then offered to Sushmita Sen, whose portrayal of Chandni became one of the film's most celebrated aspects. Main Hoon Na, starring Shah Rukh Khan and others, was a significant commercial success.
