Mahesh Bhatt Finds Purity in Sikh Service Stories

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is set to anchor 'Pehchaan,' a new series premiering this Baisakhi, which highlights the stories of 13 Sikh individuals.

Conceptualized to explore resilience, faith, and service, the show has been a deeply introspective journey for Bhatt. He views the series not as entertainment but as a mirror reflecting purity and prompting a remembrance of forgotten inner truths.

Bhatt emphasizes that his perspective shifted through engaging with Sikhism, seeing it as action rather than mere belief. He learned about finding divinity in serving others, a realization that moved him beyond his personal narrative to embrace life's larger story.

The experience also underscored the importance of unlearning, which Bhatt describes as a painful but necessary shedding of the need for control and interpretation. He now prefers to observe life's unfolding without interference, finding a deeper understanding in uncertainty.

Furthermore, Bhatt speaks of the joy and transformative emotional experience of becoming a grandfather to Raha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's daughter. He also fondly recalls the enduring legacy of singer Asha Bhosle, whose voice he described as essential to his generation.
