Summary
- Mahershala Ali's Blade movie with Marvel stalled.
- Ali and director Bassam Tariq made a new film.
- Feige expressed disappointment over Blade's cancellation.

Marvel's planned "Blade" movie, announced with Mahershala Ali in 2019, has officially been canceled. Despite hiring directors Bassam Tariq and later Yann Demange, production issues led to the project stalling out.
Now, Ali and director Bassam Tariq have re-teamed for the upcoming Amazon MGM action film, "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother." Ali shared that the "Blade" project's difficulties directly enabled the creation of their new movie, as Tariq had the time and focus to develop it, and Ali was able to utilize his year-plus of training for "Blade."
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently expressed his personal disappointment about the "Blade" movie not moving forward. Feige stated that Marvel did not want to simply put a costume on Ali without a unique vision, and the project did not meet their standards for being "insanely great."
Ali views the cancellation positively, embracing his new project, "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother." He believes that "what is for you is for you and what is not is not," and that the "Blade" project was not meant for him, asserting that if Marvel had truly wanted to make the movie, they would have. He has moved on from the Marvel film.
Last week at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige announced a "Ghost Rider" movie starring Ryan Gosling and "Black Panther 3," starring David Jonsson as the new hero.
