Magic's Gold Star: Reg Martin's Prestigious Award

Reg Martin, a magician with a lifelong dedication to his craft, is being honored with the Gold Star by the Magic Circle. This prestigious award, the society's highest membership level, will be presented by the president in July. Martin, based in Bicester, has a remarkable career spanning decades, including a 13-year tenure on the iconic Paul Daniels Magic Show.

Having joined the Magic Circle 40 years ago, Martin has a deep history with the organization, which was founded in 1905 to advance the art of magic. The society upholds a strict motto of secrecy and boasts over 1,700 members globally. Martin's own journey within the circle involved rigorous exams and progression through its degrees, culminating in this distinguished presidential award.

Although a stroke 10 years ago has prevented him from performing, Martin continues to contribute to magic as an inventor, developing new tricks and ideas. He previously received an award from Dame Vera Lynn in the 1990s for his writing in the Magic Circular magazine. For Martin, magic has evolved from a childhood gift to an excellent hobby that has sustained him.
