3 Jan
Summary
- Madras high court refused to halt the release of the movie 'Parasakthi'.
- A copyright violation plea alleged the story was stolen from 'Semmozhi'.
- The film, set in the 1960s, covers anti-Hindi agitations.

The Madras high court has denied a plea to stop the release of the upcoming movie 'Parasakthi', slated for January 10th. The court declined to grant interim relief to a petitioner who alleged copyright infringement regarding the film's story. This decision allows the production team to proceed with the film's release as scheduled.
The petition was filed by K V Rajendran, an associate director, who claimed the story of 'Parasakthi' was unlawfully taken from his original work, 'Semmozhi'. Rajendran stated he had registered his story in 2010, inspired by the 1965 anti-Hindi agitation. He asserted that the film's producers had copied his narrative.
Producers of 'Parasakthi', directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, indicated that the film is set in the 1960s and depicts the anti-Hindi agitations that occurred in Tamil Nadu during that era. The court's refusal to impose a ban means the film can now be released without immediate legal obstruction.
