30 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Madonna hospitalized with serious bacterial infection in 2023
- Spent 4 days unconscious, put on ventilator due to sepsis
- Struggled with lack of energy and strength during recovery

In June 2023, just weeks before she was set to embark on her Celebration tour, Madonna was hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection that led to sepsis. The Queen of Pop spent several days in the intensive care unit, including 48 hours in an induced coma, as she battled the life-threatening condition.
Upon regaining consciousness, Madonna was frustrated to find she had no energy or strength, despite initially thinking she would rebound quickly. Her Kabbalah teacher helped her through this difficult recovery period, advising her to accept the situation and not worry about when it would end.
Fortunately, Madonna was able to resume her Celebration tour in October 2023. During an early show, she expressed gratitude, calling it a "f---ing miracle" that she was able to perform after her health scare. The tour wrapped up last May.
In a recent podcast interview, Madonna also shared that she saw her late mother when she was "almost there on the other side." This experience led her to forgive her "biggest enemy," her brother Christopher Ciccone, before his passing.
