Madhuri Dixit's Most Authentic Performance Yet as Serial Killer

Madhuri Dixit is poised to deliver a groundbreaking performance in the upcoming Applause Entertainment series, 'Mrs. Deshpande.' Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the show will see Dixit step into the challenging role of a serial killer, a stark contrast to her on-screen personas. This project is being hailed as her most authentic portrayal since 'Mrityudand.'

The series draws inspiration from the 2017 French drama 'The Mantis,' where a retired serial killer assists the police in catching a copycat. Since returning to India in 2011, Dixit has sought out demanding roles, and 'Mrs. Deshpande' appears to fulfill that aspiration.

Dixit has previously lauded the rise of Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms, noting their ability to offer unique storytelling and a plethora of roles that empower women. She views the current era as a golden age for female actors in the industry, celebrating the diversity and global reach of content available on streaming services.
