Summary
- Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt were a popular Bollywood pair in the 90s
- Their relationship changed after Sanjay's arrest in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case
- Madhuri reportedly avoided being photographed with Sanjay when he was released on bail

In the early 1990s, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt were one of Bollywood's most talked-about pairs, with their on-screen chemistry captivating fans. However, their relationship took a dramatic turn when Sanjay was arrested in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
According to film journalist Hanif Zaveri, the controversy surrounding Sanjay's legal troubles created a distance between the two actors. When Sanjay was released on bail, the director of their film Mahaanta organized a party to bring the cast together. But when Madhuri arrived, she deliberately avoided joining Sanjay on stage, even leaving the venue instead of being photographed with him.
Zaveri revealed that Madhuri's family, particularly her mother, had wanted her to settle down with Sanjay at one point. However, after his arrest, Madhuri chose to step away from the situation, fearing that she too might be investigated. She later married Dr. Sriram Nene in 1999.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt has been married three times, including to actresses Richa Sharma and Maanayata Dutt. The two stars eventually reunited for the 2019 film Kalank, but their relationship has never fully recovered from the strain of that turbulent period in the 1990s.
