Madhubala's Sister Debunks Health-Breakup Link

Madhubala's sister, Madhur Bhushan, has strongly refuted claims that the legendary actress's separation from Dilip Kumar was caused by her heart condition. Bhushan clarified that Madhubala's serious heart issues were diagnosed much later, after her relationship with Kumar had already concluded.

According to Bhushan, Madhubala was shooting for 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi' in 1958 when doctors advised further tests in Mumbai, where she discovered she had a hole in her heart. Due to the limited medical technology at the time, treatment options were scarce, and the condition was complex.

Madhubala later married Kishore Kumar, who was aware of her health problems and took her to London for consultation. Doctors there gave her a prognosis of only two years to live, stating there was no cure. Despite this, Madhubala initially found it hard to accept, even fainting during a song sequence for 'Mughal-E-Azam' when she was in chains, indicating a decline in her health.

Madhubala passed away on February 23, 1969, at the age of 36, after a prolonged battle with her heart condition. Her burial site at Mumbai's Juhu Muslim Kabrastan is reportedly only a few meters away from Dilip Kumar's.
