Mýa, the Grammy-winning R&B artist, revealed details about her upcoming tenth studio album, "Retrospect," during a recent appearance on "Sherri Shepherd." This highly anticipated album is scheduled for release this spring via Planet 9 in partnership with Virgin Music. It marks her first full-length project since "T.K.O. (The Knock Out)" in 2018 and includes collaborations with notable artists such as 21 Savage and Joyner Lucas.
To launch the album campaign, Mýa dropped the lead single, "ASAP," on Friday, January 30th. The track features a sultry, '80s-influenced midtempo groove, with Mýa delivering vocals about enduring love. Co-produced by Mýa and LaMar "MyGuyMars" Edwards, "ASAP" draws inspiration from the funk and soul sounds of the '70s and '80s, a theme that permeates the "Retrospect" project. The album's concept is a celebration of music's foundational joy and aims to connect past influences with contemporary R&B.
This announcement follows a series of recent milestones for Mýa, including her performance at the 2025 BET Awards and the 25th anniversary celebration of her 2000 sophomore album, "Fear of Flying." The latter was honored with a vinyl reissue and a Dolby Atmos release. Mýa also performed on select dates of Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine Tour" last fall.
