Lupita Nyong'o Stars in Rotating Role Play

Lupita Nyong'o is currently embodying the role of 'A' in the Off-Broadway production of 'Pre-Existing Condition' at Greenwich House Theater. This acclaimed play, written by Marin Ireland and directed by Maria Dizzia, delves into the challenges and indignities following a life-altering relationship. Nyong'o is the first of six actresses scheduled to inhabit the central character, performing through September 26. The production features a unique rotating cast, allowing multiple performers to explore the same experience.

Following Nyong'o, the role of 'A' will be taken over by an impressive lineup of talent. Phillipa Soo will perform from September 28 to October 17, followed by Susannah Flood from October 18 to November 7. Hari Nef is set for November 9 to November 28, and Edie Falco will perform from November 30 to December 19. The production's final 'A' will be two-time Tony Award nominee Whitney White, who closes out the run from December 21 to January 8, 2027. The play's extended run continues through January 8, 2027, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Sanctuary for Families Survivor Leadership Fund.

Returning cast members Greg Keller, Dael Orlandersmith, and Sarah Steele, who were part of the sold-out 2024 run, are also featured. Susannah Perkins replaces Steele in October, with Josh Tobin and Sarin Monae West serving as understudies. This engagement marks Nyong'o's latest return to the New York stage, following her Tony-nominated Broadway debut in 'Eclipsed' and her Shakespeare in the Park performance in 'Twelfth Night' in 2025.
