The BBC is gearing up for the return of its popular cozy crime series, Ludwig, starring David Mitchell as a reclusive puzzle-setter who becomes a detective. Season two of the Big Talk Studios production is scheduled to premiere later this year. The debut season proved highly successful, marking the BBC's biggest comedy launch since 2018 when it aired in 2024.
Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin are confirmed to reprise their roles in the upcoming season. They will be joined by new series regulars Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford. Several other cast members, including Dylan Hughes, Dorothy Atkinson, Ralph Ineson, and Karl Pilkington, are also returning.
Ludwig is a co-production involving BritBox and ZDF, with BBC commissioning the series. The show is produced in association with ITV Studios, which handles its international distribution. Mark Brotherhood returns as the writer for season two, with George Kane and Stella Corradi directing.
